City Quays

MBA were appointed by the Belfast Harbour Commission to deliver grade A office floorspace to satisfy growing demand from foreign direct investment (FDI). We advised on strategy and coordinated the environmental consultants. We engaged in pre-application discussions with the DOE and achieved planning consent within 5 months. We also provided ongoing advice during the construction phase.

Research and development facility for Genesis Breads, Magherafelt

MBA obtained consent for Genesis Crafty for the redevelopment of its original bakery site in Magherafelt for a research and development facility. The key issues were design, road safety and securing permission in a timely fashion in order to allow the client to obtain government funding.

Service Station at Logan's Shopping Complex, Cloughmills

We secured permission for a service station comprising a fast food restaurant, picnic area, shop and petrol pumps at Logan’s Shopping Complex. MBA successfully persuaded the Department that the unique circumstances of the site justifyied relaxing rural planning policy.

Car Parking at City of Derry Airport

We provided advice to City of Derry Airport in respect of permitted development for hostile vehicle mitigation measures and reconfiguration and extension of its car park.

Enforcement Appeal at Frosses Road, Cloughmills

We successfully defended a client in an enforcement appeal where it was alleged that a material change of use had occurred as a result of disposal of inert building material. We established that the alleged matters had not occurred because the intention was to create a new car park for a commercial facility. The enforcement notice was quashed.
